The Little Black Jacket

For the longest time, I have dreamt of a Chanel tweed jacket. I want my first Chanel garment to be timeless and classy. The Chanel tweed jacket resonates this and so much more. Over the years there have been many beautiful styles but the one that really caught my attention was one worn by Kristen Stewart from the “Paris in Rome” 2015/16 Chanel Metiers d’Art collection. Watching the short film clip made me fall in love with the jacket, and so the obsession became real.

I started researching and tried to track down Kristen Stewart’s Little Black Jacket (LBJ) to purchase but realised after years of hunting, it was sold out worldwide.

Much to my dismay, I became desperate, more obsessed and was determined to find another LBJ. Just like Kristen Stewart’s LBJ, I want mine to be black, tweed, well-fitted with four pockets.

Every season I kept an eye on Chanel’s latest runway collections, visited Brisbane’s boutique every month, searched online and explored all the boutiques in my subsequent overseas trips.

Until…..

In October 2019, I was extremely fortunate to tour Europe (my third European trip) and I was so determined to find the LBJ. I was hopeful that if I found this dream jacket it would have to be in Paris. And so I did! What’s even more special is that the Jacket was purchased at the flagship store on 31 Rue Cambon, Paris (Coco Chanel’s original place of residence).

The trying on experience was magical and customer service at the boutique was impeccable. I was treated like royalty with an enormous fitting room, Evian bottled water, orange juice, coffee and biscuits. All these were provided during my two-hour fittings!
