As a fashion blogger/influencer and wanting to gain exposure in the fashion industry, I try to attend as many fashion events as I can. These events range from small, medium to large depending on budget and/or the number of sponsors received.
I often approach event organisers to be on the VIP/Influencer guest list and sometimes do get accepted depending on availability and/or if my profile satisfies their requirements.
In Brisbane, the regular/annual events are:
- Brisbane Fashion Month – showcasing and promoting Brisbane fashion designers throughout the month of October through runway and pop up stores in specific locations
- Brisbane Fashion Festival – runway staged to coincide with the arrival of new season Spring/Summer collections in stores with local designers, leading industry names, homegrown favourites and the brightest next-gen talent
- Designer Q – red carpet event launching labels and careers of prominent up and coming designers from all around the world
Other events includes:
- Ravishing Fashionistas – a charity fashion show to help women to embrace themselves confidently by breaking through stereotypes in the fashion industry. Most of the designers are locally based and models are diverse with all types of of background and body shapes
- Gold Coast Fashion Project – showcasing local designers and an inclusive look at indigenous and diverse cultures
